Enabling AM/FM capability for any consumer device, the Si473x debuts as the market's first fully integrated AM/FM radio receiver from antenna input to audio output on a single monolithic IC. The chip requires only two external components in 0.15 cm2 of board space as opposed to more than 50 components and 10 cm2 of board space for existing topologies. Setting another benchmark, the Si473x claims to be the only AM/FM receiver that does not need manual alignment. The device supports a wide variety of antennas with an on-chip varactor and auto calibration. Additionally, the Si4731 is reportedly the only AM/FM receiver to include support for the European Radio Data System (RDS) and the U.S. Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS). Samples of the Si4730 and Si4731 are available in 20-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm QFN packages. Prices are $4.87 and $5.53 each/10,000, respectively. An evaluation board is available for $150.
