Analog Evaluation System Eases Embedded Systems Designs

The MXDEV 1 analog evaluation system, which consists of software and hardware, supports the company's MCP320X family of 12-bit a/d converters. The tool allows single or continuous conversions for the a/d converter under evaluation. Data can be acquired in real-time at a maximum sample rate of 200 S/s or in acquisiton mode at a maximum rate of 50 kS/s. Data is displayed in a variety of formats including real-time numeric and stripchart, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), histogram, oscilloscope plot, and data list. The FFT display allows windowing options such as Blackman, Blackman-Harris, Hamming, Hanning and rectangular.
System hardware consists of a driver board that performs acquisition and an evaluation board that plugs into the driver board and contains the device to be evaluated as well as a prototype area. Jumper-selectable options allow selection of the reference voltage between the on-board reference and the external source, and selection between single-ended and pseudo-differential inputs. Total system cost is $258.
