Co-developed with sister-company Elma TreNew, new ultra-high performance AdvancedTCA backplanes have demonstrated speeds of 3.125 Gbps to 5 Gbps and cross-talk less than 0.2% (near end coupling coefficient) over standard FR-4 board material. The backplanes are available as a 14-slot Dual Star and a custom 12-slot Dual-Dual Star, compliant to emerging PICMG 3.x specifications. The standard 14-slot backplane features a 12-layer controlled impedance design with two fabric slots located in physical slots seven and eight. Inter-board communication is via the update channel interface (UCI), comprised of 10 differential pairs in a point-to-point connection between certain sets of slots. The 12-slot backplane employs a 26-layer controlled impedance design with four fabric slots and eight node slots. It measures approximately 17" x 17" and is based on a 1.6" spacing, except slots one and seven that are based on 2" spacing. For prices, contact BUSTRONIC CORP., Fremont, CA. (510) 490-7388.
