Clock Generator Ensures Jitter Free Video Signals

June 1, 2001

Targeting DVD players, digital HDTV systems, set-top boxes, and other high-performance MPEG-2 applications, the FS6217-01 dual phase-locked-loop (PLL) clock generator derives four system clocks from a single 27-MHz reference frequency. Each output clock has a zero ppm synthesis error rate for cycling signals and is said to have low cumulative clock jitter. To save space on the board, the device also consolidates the functions of several external components within the system. The 5V device comes standard in a 20-pin SSOP with a low-voltage logic interface. A 3.3V version is also available, as well as custom frequencies and packages. Price is $1.94 each/1,000.
