Coax Connectors Have Self-Aligning Feature

April 1, 1999

Misalignment problems encountered when attempting to directly mate together boards containing coaxial connectors are said to be overcome with the SLB/SA series. These patented RF connectors have slide-on mating and "floating" front ends that move during mating. The movement allows the mating connectors to be guided into proper alignment, ensuring that the connector pair mates properly without damage either to the connectors or the pc boards.Besides eliminating the need for cable assemblies, the connectors and their mating plugs permit pc boards to be stacked in parallel and are compatible with industry-standard board drilling tolerances. SLB/SA connectors are said to exhibit good VSWR through a dc-to-6 GHz range.
