Connector Links Notebooks To External Drives

Oct. 1, 1998

The two-piece FCN-280 series is a narrow-pitch I/O connector that provides a cost-effective standard interface for ultra-thin notebook computers to external media such as floppy disk drives, hard disk drives and tape drives. The series includes a 26-position plug with a contact pitch of 1 x 1 mm. A right-angle, board-mount socket features SMT terminals on a 0.5-mm grid constructed of LCP material. The plug mass-terminates to AWG 30 or 28 cable. An inner metal construction is combined with an outer ABS-molded cover to provide EMI shielding and ESD protection.
