Dual-Core Hyperthreading Boosts Efficiency In Rugged 1.86-GHz PCIe/104 SBC

Jan. 27, 2014
The Atlas PCI/104-Express single-board computer (SBC), based on Intel’s dual-core Cedar Trail N2800 CPU, delivers processing speeds of 1.86 GHz.

The Atlas PCI/104-Express single-board computer (SBC), based on Intel’s dual-core Cedar Trail N2800 CPU, delivers processing speeds of 1.86 GHz. Such speed combined with dual-core hyperthreading technology, which allows applications to run in parallel, helps significantly enhance processing efficiency. Available I/O includes four USB 2.0 ports, four RS-2322/422/485 and two RS-232 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and SATA ports, and digital I/O. Diamond Systems’ board supports I/O expansion with PCI-104, PCI/104-Express, and PCIe MiniCard I/O modules. A mini, high-speed expansion connector supports most PCIe/104 I/O modules. With its dual-use PCIe MiniCard/mSATA socket, the board will accommodate newer I/O modules in the PCIe MiniCard form factor that feature Wi-Fi, Ethernet, analog I/O, digital I/O, and CAN. The Atlas’ rugged construction maintains an operating temperature ranging from −40 to +75°C, and has a high tolerance for shock and vibration. Also incorporated are onboard DDR3 SDRAM and an integrated conduction-cooling heat spreader. For particularly rugged applications, mSATA disk modules up to 64 Gbytes are available in SLC and MLC technologies.
