Representing the latest addition to the firm’s portfolio of hot-swap controller ICs, the HIP1011D chip is designed to provide independent power control to two Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) hot-plug slots. Acting as an electronic circuit breaker for the PCI bus’s four voltages, the IC provides over-current detection and protection for both slots and detects and reports under-voltages on the 3.3V, 5V and 12V outputs, helping eliminate system downtime. HIP1011D also ensures fault isolation, preventing a single defective load from dragging down the main system power. When coupled with as few as four discrete power MOSFETs and other passive components, the IC can deliver dual PCI power control to enterprise, mid-range and low-end servers, as well as other systems. HIP1011D also features integrated ±12V control FETs, further saving board space and reducing mounting costs.
