The 6U PowerPC-based VCE405 system uses only 6.5 W, eliminating the need for large heatsinks or cooling fans in temperatures up to 85°C. The 266-MHz IBM PowerPC 405GP on the VCE405 can now run LynuxWorks BlueCat 4 Linux. The VCE405 also will work with Wind River's VxWorks and LynuxWorks' LynxOS 4 hard real-time operating systems. LynxOS and BlueCat Linux are binary-compatible. The board has two 64-bit PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) slots as well. With Linux support, the VCE405 goes for $1605.
