Global positioning systems (GPSs) are critical in applications like vehicle navigation, telematics, location, and fleet management systems. With the addition of the OrbiTrak 8R to a PC/104 single-board computer, the system can calculate its location and altitude. The board supports the NMEA 0183 and TAIP ASCII protocols, as well as binary TSIP GPS protocol. Included is an eight-channel Trimble Lassen LP GPS module, as well as two transistor-transistor-logic serial ports, 16 digital I/O, external battery backup, odometer input, and clock input. The OrbiTrak 8R is priced at $239.
