Fibre Channel GBIC Connector Eliminates Hand Soldering

March 1, 2000

The SCA-2 20-pin plug connectors for Fibre Channel GBIC modules have a precise amount of solder and flux on each contact lead, making for consistent and reliable solder joints from a single pass through any convection re-flow oven. This also allows the connectors to be soldered while the pc boards are still in panel form and in line with other SMT processes.
The connectors are hot-pluggable and blind-mateable, have a UL 94V-0 housing, and gold or gold/palladium nickel-plated signal and ground contacts. Pricing is $0.004 to $0.007 per contact, depending on volume; delivery is from four to six weeks ARO.
