Targeted at central office (CO), enterprise and carrier-class equipment, the 82V2108 octal T1/E1/J1 framer, 82V2048 T1/E1 octal line interface unit (LIU), and 82V2058 dedicated E1 octal LIU provide up to eight independent physical layer interfaces and support all telephony connectivity requirements to Class 5 CO switches. The octal framer supports T1, E1 and J1 framing formats and provides a system interface to support 2-, 4- or 8-Mb/s pulse code modulation (PCM) highways in formats such as H-MVIP, MVIP, ST-Bus, GCI-bus and CHI-bus. It integrates three HDLC controllers per channel, which can be used to implement full GR-303 or V5.2 layer 2 connectivity. The octal T1/E1 LIU and the dedicated octal E1 LIU integrate clock and data recovery, short-haul line drivers and receivers, jitter attenuators, and diagnostic tools. The devicesÕs non-intrusive monitoring function supports G.772 standards and enables system redundancy to be added without additional external components or logic. The extended receiver sensitivity of the LIUs allows up to 20 dB of loop attenuation. When used together, the framer and LIU chipset is said to provide a high-density, cost-effective solution for T1/E1/J1 port cards designed to connect voice and media gateways to Class 5 PSTN switches in the CO. Prices for the octal framer and octal LIU devices are $35.80 and $14.79, respectively, each/10,000. Also available is an evaluation board, which includes the octal framer, octal LIU and the companyÕs communications processor. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 345-7015.
