Limiting Amp Eyes SONET OC-48 Apps

Aug. 1, 1999

Targeting SONET OC-48 applications, GD16511 limiting amplifier for optical front-ends come in 5 x 5 mm TQFPs. Compared to earlier devices, the amplifier can reduce board space by 40% and power by 70% at 150 mW. Minimum small signal gain is 28 dB with a minimum 3 dB bandwidth of 3 GHz. An internal offset canceling network in conjunction with a loop-through termination technique permit input signals from 1 mVpk-pk to more than 1 Vpk-pk.
