Long Travel Gives Dome Switches An Edge

Jan. 1, 1999

A highly reliable, conductive rubber dome contact allows for 0.050" travel in the RT Series tactile switches. That travel distance is said to be five times greater than traditional metal-dome tactile switches. The switches are available in through-hole and surface-mount packages and are constructed of high-temperature plastic materials that are capable of withstanding infrared soldering processes. The switches are available with actuation forces of either 120 grams or 300 grams. Because they measure less than 7 mm square, the RT Series switches conserve space on printed circuit boards. Contact rating is 5 mA at 12 vdc.
