A miniature SMT resettable fuse is available for use on flexible and rigid pc boards in cellular phone battery packs. The PolySwitch miniSMDE190 device protects battery packs from overcurrent episodes caused by short circuits or overcharging. The polymeric, positive temperature coefficient device makes overcurrent protection, such as charge protection and power management, easy to implement on shrinking PCBs with increasing electronic content. The device, which measures 11.15 mm long x 5.33 mm wide x 0.53 mm thick (max.), offers the highest hold current rating in the PolySwitch family: 1.9A at 20°C. It trips within 2 seconds at 20°C.
