In addition to providing electrostatic discharge protection for PC video ports, the PAC VGA-100 network chip integrates all parallel and series termination resistors required for a VGA connector interface. Makers of notebook PCs, video controller cards, and motherboards with built-in video controllers can now use a single chip to preserve video signal integrity. The device provides ESD protection to IEC Level 4 standards, or 8 kV contact discharge per IEC1000-4-2, which is IEC's highest level of system ESD immunity. Its diodes exhibit very low loading capacitance, with typically only 3 pF of loading on a protected input. The chip protects all seven signals commonly encountered on a PC video port.
