For designers requiring mass quantities of digital I/O lines for PC/104-based systems, the MPC196 boards provide 96 TTL I/O lines. Stacking three of these boards on a PC/104 expandable CPU adds 288 lines of discrete digital I/O to the system. A second board, the MPC148, provides 53 uncommitted lines of TTL I/O, three 16-bit timers, an octal DIP switch, and eight LED indicators. Both boards employ an 82C55 architecture as the programming interface. All discrete I/O lines have user-selectable pull-ups or pull-downs and series resistors to guard against damage. The digital I/O lines use 50-pin ribbon cable connectors in an industry standard pinout, thereby creating alternating signals and grounds on the ribbon cable to reportedly eliminate signal crosstalk and bounces. Both boards operate over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. Single-unit prices for MPC148 and MPC196 are $110 and $125, respectively. MICRO/SYS INC., Montrose, CA. (818) 244-4600.
