P&D Connectors Support Multiple Functions

Oct. 1, 1998

Claiming to eliminate the need for as many as seven different connectors by combining many functions into one connector system, the D31 Panel-and-Display (P&D) connector system allows a monitor or flat panel to be used as an I/O hub for high-frequency multimedia computer applications. Well-suited for PC theater entertainment systems and high-performance desktop and notebook computers, the receptacle is designed for board-to-cable application. It mates with the firm's existing P&D-A connector. The EMI shielded device includes: two levels of "first make/last break" contacts; right-angle through-hole mounting; and contacts with gold-over-nickel in the contact area and tin-plating in the termination area for ease of installation and long life.
