Built on the PICMG 1.3 architecture, the BPG6741 and BPX6736 butterfly form-factor backplanes are designed for 2U chassis systems that operate in graphics-class or server-class applications, respectively. The backplanes support SHB Express system host boards and a variety of PCI Express option cards. Both backplanes also feature a USB audio controller, taking advantage of the optional USB routings between a PICMG 1.3 SHB and the backplane. The USB routings are set on edge-connector C of the host board, which allows users to implement system audio with a minimum of cables and without the extra audio card. Side A of the BPG6741 supports one PICMG 1.3 SHB and one x16 PCI Express card slot and includes the USB audio interface. Side B supports two x8 PCIe slots driven with x1 links from an SHB. Side A of the BPX6736 supports one PICMG 1.3 SHB, one x16 and one x8 PCI Express slots, two PCI Express cards, and the audio interface. Side B includes two x8 PCIe slots driven with x1 links from an SHB. Pricing for the backplanes starts at $316 each. TRENTON TECHNOLOGY INC., Atlanta, GA. (800) 875-6031.
