The small footprint of a new metalized drum core power inductor makes it useful for applications where board space is restricted or critical. The Coiltronics brand LD series inductors can be used for buck, boost, noise filter and output filter applications. The LD series surface-mount power inductor comes in two sizes: LD1 measures 4.5 mm x 4.0 mm x 3.2 mm, and LD2 measures 7.8 mm x 7.0 mm x 5.0 mm. Terminations are on the bottom of the drum core surface. Inductance for the LD1 device ranges from 1.0 µH to 68 µH and current ranges from 0.52A to 4.26A peak current. Inductance for the LD2 ranges from 10 µH to 470 µH, with current ranging from 0.45A to 3.45A peak current. COOPER ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGIES, Boynton Beach, FL. (561) 752-5000.
