Sacramento, CA

Sacramento, CA-A low-cost technology that can reportedly improve and simplify virtually every electrically-powered device operated with input or pointing controls has been developed by Varatouch Technology Inc. Designated R2, the technology is a carefully blended mixture of silicone rubber and carbon that transforms the material into a variable rate electrical resistor, a basic building block for hundreds of consumer and industrial devices. The resistive rubber can be integrated anywhere there is a need for highly reliable, variable-rate input controls, switches, dials or knobs that translate human touch into digital data. VaraPoint, the first in a series of products utilizing the technology, is a low-cost, 360° mouse replacement device that can be integrated into traditional or wireless keyboards and handheld remotes for use with computers or the new convergence electronic products for set-top boxes.
