Upwards of a 60% savings in board space is claimed for a family of Schottky barrier diodes residing in miniature, SOT323 and SOD323 versus existing SOT23 packages. The SOD323s house single devices that dissipate 250 mW at 25°C, whereas the SOT323s hold dual devices having a common cathode or series configuration and dissipating 330 mW.
Breakdown voltage at an IR of 10 µA is as high as 70V for the ZUMD70-04 and ZMS2800, both of which are SOD323 parts. The Schottkys also feature a low forward voltage: VF is specified as 410 mV (max.) at 1 mA across the range of devices, except for the ZUMD54C, which is quoted at 320 mV. Capacitance is also low, as typified by the figure of 2.0 pF at 1 MHz for the ZMS2800 device.
Prices for the Schottky barrier diodes range from $0.35 to $0.80 each/10,000, with delivery quoted at eight weeks max.
