Representing a smaller, more reliable version of a variable resistor or potentiometer, the AD5273 one-time programmable (OTP) digital trimmer offers a 64-step resolution and operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply. The trimmer's OTP feature permanently sets the wiper position, with the device developing variable resistance values under 2-wire, I2C-compatible program control. Factory programming software does away with the need for external I2C controllers. The set-and-forget AD5273 eliminates the need for careful matching of specific resistance values in electronic adjustment applications with poor tolerance distributions. The IC comes in a 2.9 mm x 3 mm, 8-lead SOT-23 package and is priced at $0.68 each/1,000. The AD5273EVAL factory setup kit to program the AD5273 on pc boards is available for $35.
