SMT Diplex Filter Targets Internet Devices

Feb. 1, 2001

Introduced as the industry's first surface-mount diplex filter for cable modems, set-top boxes, and Internet devices, the CX6002 integrated filter modules allow manufacturers to save board space, reduce part count, and simplify equipment design when compared to discrete filter solutions. The 1.0" x 0.5" x 0.23" filter module allows two-way communication between the customer premise equipment (CPE) and the cable network with minimal crossover interference between the downstream and the upstream communication bands.
Requiring no tuning, the diplex filter separates these upstream and downstream signals, delivering a low-pass signal of less than 42 MHz at one port and a high-pass signal of greater than 54 MHz at the second port. A similar product, CX6007, intended for international frequency split applications of 65/85 MHz, is planned for the near future. The CX6002 is available in tubes and is compatible with most high-speed pick-and-place equipment. Price is $1.60 each/10,000.
