The industry’s first full-function supply voltage supervisor in a PicoGate package is provided by the TPS3801 family. Designers can use the supervisory IC for circuit initialization and timing supervision for DSPs, microcontrollers and microprocessors in portable applications to ensure reliable operation of the digital system. It’s said to be the first such device in a 5-pin SC-70 (SOT-323) package, enabling designers to reduce board space by 50% compared with 5-pin SOT-23 packages. Typical supply current rating is just 9 µA. The IC goes beyond being a simple Power Good device by including a timer for generating a time delay of 200 ms. This allows the supply voltage to stabilize or gives the oscillator of the supervised processor enough time to settle, ensuring proper system reset. The device is capable of monitoring supply voltages for 2.5V, 3V, 3.3V or 5V systems.
