Universal I/O Connector Provides DSU/CSU Connectivity

Sept. 1, 1998

Providing a multi-serial, multi-protocol WAN attachment over a single high-density connector system, this universal I/O connector system is designed to provide connectivity to a data service unit/channel service unit, such as routers and hubs. The system includes a 72- and 160-position cable plug and board connector. The plug is designed with insulation displacement contacts to provide fast and efficient cable termination for a low applied cost compared with welding or soldering. Contacts are arranged on a 0.050" centerline using a four-row mating interface for high-density interconnect. The plug terminates 28 and 30 AWG stranded wire using a benchpress or high-speed applicator.
