The AU9412 USB keyboard hub controller chip and AU9216 six-port USB standalone hub chip are touted as cost-effective answers to the issue of hub integration into end products. The AU9412 chip provides USB functionality to a PC keyboard and provides two USB ports for connection of other USB peripherals. A default keyboard matrix is built into the chip so that it can be directly connected to an 18 x 8 keyboard matrix. An optional 512-byte external serial EEPROM can be used by OEMs to customize the AU9412 chip.The AU9216 device is used within a standalone USB hub or USB monitor hub and supports six bus-powered or self-powered downstream ports for connection of up to six USB peripherals. It also can be augmented with external EEPROM for customization purposes.
