USB Relay System Expands PC System Functionality

Jan. 1, 2001

Designed to expand the functionality of PC systems, the USB-based Switch & Sense 8 I/O relay system provides eight isolated ac or dc inputs and eight electromechanical relays. The inputs monitor 24 Vac/Vdc and the output relays deliver 6A, Form C SPDT outputs at 120 Vac or 28 Vdc.
Available in a rugged, steel case, the unit comes with screw terminals to ease installation—there are no switches or jumpers on the board—and the system is completely plug-and-playable. The system includes all of the software necessary to configure, test and control the outputs and read the inputs. And its interface library provides a set of functions that can be called from Visual Basic or Visual C/C++, and there are several examples that demonstrate how to use the interface library and a software-enabled input filter is available on all channels.
