In packages measuring 4 mm x 4 mm, the MAX33xxE USB transceivers can free up to 55% of circuit-board space compared to similar devices. The MAX3344E, MAX3345E, and MAX3346E provide ±15 kV of ESD protection on their USB D+ and D- data lines as per the human body model. Shared features include a 1.5 kW pull-up resistor and an enumerate input, eliminating the need for an external resistor and allowing the devices to logically disconnect while plugged in. The MAX3344E and MAX3345E detect the availability of VBUS and provide a logic-level output to the ASIC and CPU. The MAX3346E is compliant with the USB specification revisions 1.1 and 2.0 while the MAX3344E and MAX3345E are only specified for full-speed operation. Each device features a low power suspend mode to work with ASICs that operate down to 1.65V. Prices start at $0.73 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
