VME Board Accelerates Interconnections

April 1, 2001

Targeting mission-critical applications, the SKYbolt II VME 9U multi-computer offers capabilities to accelerate interconnect speeds and fast boot capabilities. The board uses a SKYchannel crossbar to provide data transfers between compute clusters on four Merlin MPC7400 daughter cards at a rate of 960 MB/s.
Configured with four Merlins, the board delivers 42 GFLOPS of compute performance and the crossbar extends the capabilities of the current 9U board to provide dual SKYchannel connections off the board. Other features include an Intel support processor on the motherboard. Single unit price begins at $75,000.
