The problem of interfacing USB with low logic-level signaling is said to be solved with the MIC2550 USB transceiver, claimed as the industry's first ASIC-to-USB signal-level bridge IC to enable mobile USB connectivity. Aimed at cell phones and PDAs, the device serves as a voltage translation bridge between the signaling levels of a mobile system's ASICs and standard USB levels, all without any additional components.The device converts signaling voltages as low as 2.5V to the USB standard of 3.3V. This solves the problem of interfacing USB with low-voltage, deep sub-micron ASICs used in mobile devices.
