Poised for the European set-top box market, the MAX9655 and MAX9656 switches support the video portion of dual-SCART, set-top-box designs. They integrate the necessary filtering, switching, and amplification for RGB and composite signals and specify a ±1-dB passband flatness out to 9.5 MHz and a 47-dB attenuation at 27 MHz. The MAX9656 also allows users to select whether the composite signal sent to the VCR originates from the television SCART input or the encoder. Meeting the energy-efficiency requirements of European set-top boxes, both devices operate from a single 3.3V supply. Available in 16-pin QSOPs (MAX9655) and 20-pin QSOPs (MAX9656), prices start at $0.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
