With over 2 Tbytes of removable solid-state disk (SSD) storage via SATA II (3-Gbit/s interface) capacity, Elma Electronics’ Type S51E rugged computing platform facilitates mission data transport and secure erasure capability for vehicular and avionics applications. Driving the platform is a low-power Intel Atom N455 1.66-GHz single-core processor. Furthermore, with Intel’s Gen 3.5 graphics core, the S51E can handle various vision applications while meeting SWaP (size, weight, and power) requirements. Memory includes 1 Gbyte of 800-MHz DDR. It’s DX9-compliant with 200-MHz MPEG2 hardware acceleration. I/O includes dual USB 2.0 ports, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and one VGA port. Based on the PC/104 architecture, the platform has room for one additional card and multiple connector pins. The S51E supports multiple military secure-erase methods via a quick-erase pushbutton.
