Pooling their resources, Synopsys and UMC collaborate to expand the capabilities of the reference design flow based on Synopsys' Galaxy design platform for UMC's 90- nm process. The advanced low-power design flow now includes an automated multiple-voltage capability that promises to significantly reduce dynamic power and leakage-power dissipation. More design-for-test capabilities have also been added to the flow, and existing design for manufacturing capabilities were validated with UMC's libraries. These additions are intended help IC companies reduce risk and achieve predictable success for complex low-power designs. The reference design flow is available now and can be accessed from UMC's website. SYNOPSYS INC., Mountain View, CA. (800) 541-7737. UMC USA, Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 523-7800.
