ADD Semiconductor, maker of chips for smart metering, lighting, and home/building automation applications, names Paltek Corp. as its sole distributor to extend the company’s reach to Japan. Effective immediately, Paltek will provide distribution and engineering support for all ADD Semiconductor products in Japan. Offered for distribution, ADD Semiconductor’s powerline communications design solution combines an inexpensive eight-bit microcontroller with media access controller (MAC) circuitry and a high-performance digital power-line carrier (PLC) modem in a system-on-a-chip (SoC). Software libraries, reference designs, and development tools, and an upper layer stack all support the device.
