Offering protection from electrostatic discharge, a new family of surface-mount technology light-emitting diodes is said to be ideal for use as indicators in applications where electronic equipment must be protected from ESD hazards. Applications for the SMF-HM1340XD-L series of ESD-safe LEDs include right-angle panel or fault indicators, where the light source is exposed to an end user who might touch an indicator and experience a static electricity shock.
The series is available in right-angle or straight-up packaging, with excellent solder heat tolerance, the company says. The SMF-HM1340XD-L Series are priced depending on model, quantity and options. Typical pricing ranges from $0.43 each/1,000 to $0.30 each/10,000.
