April 16, 2020

SECO has entered into the network & communications and storage markets with a new COM Express Type 7 line of HPC modules. Their first entry, the COMe-C42-BT7, a COM Express Rel. 3.0 Basic Type 7 module outfitted with an AMD EPYC Embedded 3000 series processor in quad-core or eight-core variants. Networking and connectivity have been boosted with 4x 10GBASE-KR interfaces, 1x 1GbE port with NC-SI, 4X USB 3.1, and 24x PCI-e Gen3 lanes. The module also comes outfitted with 4X DDR4 SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 128Gb of DDR4-2666 ECC memory.

The COMe-C42-BT7 also features 2X legacy UARTs (16C550 compatible), along with SPI, SM Bus, LPC bus interfaces. It’s also compatible with Windows 10, Windows Server, and Linux OS 64-bit operating systems.

These are just several examples of the latest embedded systems hardware that can be utilized for any number of applications, including telecommunications, automated manufacturing, transportation systems, high-volume data processing, and more. Like all computing hardware, embedded systems will continue to evolve as new technology is introduced, and it will be interesting to see what the next evolution will add.
