A multimode silicon tuner for mobile TV, the MAX2169, receives signals in the FM, VHF-III, UHF, and L-band spectrums. Integrated tracking filters, low-pass filters, and LNAs save space and cost by eliminating the need for expensive external components. The IC operates in either zero-IF mode for DVB-H and ISDB-T or in low-IF mode for DAB and T-DMB. This multiband capability in a 6- by 6-mm, 48-pin TQFN package is well-suited for mobile multimedia applications such as cell phones, portable music players, and USB sticks. The tuner runs off a single 2.7-V supply and consumes only 130 mW when receiving ISDB-T 13-segment signals. Power consumption in the L-band mode is 11 mW. The device is specified over the ?40°C to 85°C extended temperature range. The company is developing an evaluation kit and reference designs. MAX2169 prices start at $4.00 for quantities of 1000.
