Motorola will lead the OpenSAF consortium it announced in February, supported by computing technology companies including Motorola, Ericsson, HP and Nokia Siemens Networks. OpenSAF is an open-source project designed to develop a highly-available operating environment based on SA Forum standards. The objective of the OpenSAF project is to accelerate broad adoption of an SA Forum-compliant operating environment, according to the OpenSAF website, opensaf.org Motorola also released the open source related to the project today. Adopting OpenSAF will allow for efficient use of in-house software engineering resources, according to a Motorola release. Additional tools will be provided to enable application development and deployment services as well, the company said.
