Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited, announced the opening of the company's first development center in Monterrey, Mexico. About 100 employees will be hired for the center, which will serve clients in North America, Latin America and Europe. Wipro said it established a presence in Mexico because of the broad language skills available in the region, as well as its proximity to markets in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Latin America is a strong emerging market and one where many of Wipro's clients have operations, according to a company release. "This facility ... allows us to better serve our North American clients and their operations in Latin America," AL Rao, chief operating officer of Wipro Ltd, said in a statement. "In addition, this centre will also strengthen our market presence in the region." "We are very optimistic about the growth opportunities and potential of talent available in this region," Ramesh Emani, president of Telecom and Product Engineering Solutions Division for Wipro Technologies, said in a statement. "We will recruit the best people and provide them with extensive training in our high quality delivery processes and methodologies that we deploy to successfully deliver to our customers across the globe." Wipro also recently set up development centers in Brazil, Europe, China and Canada, and is establishing three software facilities in the United States.
