Peering into the Future of Automotive Development
Many things in our lives that we’ve created are important to our ability to function as a society, including vehicles. The invention of the car literally changed society almost overnight. And every electronics advance since has seemingly manifested itself in the automotive world, from the radio to the tape deck to satellite navigation to the cloud and IoT.
In this podcast we talk to Suraj Gajendra, Vice President - Products & Software Solutions, Automotive Business at Arm, about the current trends and technologies driving the development of automotive systems. Recently, Arm and Panasonic Automotive Systems (PAS) announced a new partnership to reduce fragmentation in the industry through increased standardization, ultimately accelerating automotive development.
In addition, the company announced its commitment to join imec’s Automotive Chiplet Program (ACP). It’s a pre-competitive, collaborative research project with the goal of evaluating chiplet architectures and packaging/integration technologies that are best suited for car manufacturers' high-performance computing needs and strict safety requirements.
Arm is also a part of other collaborative efforts like SOAFEE, an industry-wide initiative that aims to standardize automotive software development, which will ultimately help facilitate integration of chiplets. On top of that, the company is dedicated to providing an accelerated path to chiplet-based designs through initiatives like ACP and with the expected launch of Arm Compute Subsystems for Automotive in 2025.
