Digital control of high-voltage power supplies is difficult, particularly when flashovers occur. A solution to this problem has been developed based on the CANBus digital interface, a robust serial communication protocol designed to operate under hostile environments. The 5-kV bipolar HP5R supply is built into the CANBus control module, allowing for the control of high-voltage supplies used to power mass spectrometers and electron microscopes. The CANBus-controlled high-voltage modules use a single serial interface connection to the controlling PC and can be used at up to 60 kV. The flexibility of the system is said to allow control of high voltages with stabilities and resolutions down to parts per million. Call for pricing.
