Auto-Qualified TVS Diode Boosts Power Dissipation Without Circuit Redesign

Feb. 18, 2014
Littelfuse’s TPSMB series of transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes offer secondary protection of sensitive automotive and other electronics from transients induced by load dump and other transient voltage events.

Littelfuse’s TPSMB series of transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes offer secondary protection of sensitive automotive and other electronics from transients induced by load dump and other transient voltage events. They comply with the Automotive Electronics Council’s Q101 Stress Test Qualification for Automotive Grade Discrete Semiconductors (AEC-Q101). As a result, the devices are suitable for protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits used in automotive applications. Typical applications include dc power protection and electrostatic-discharge (ESD) protection in electronic control units, sensors, and entertainment systems, as well as portable devices that require high reliability. Standoff voltage ratings range from 11 to 77 V for unidirectional and bidirectional devices. The diodes feature a dissipation rating of 600 W peak pulse power (Pppm) in a DO-214AA SMB package.
