Four-Line ESD Protector Measures 1 mm x 2 mm

May 12, 2010
Dubbed the smallest four-line ESD protection IC supporting all leading high-speed interconnects, the HSP061-4NY8 in an eight-lead microDFN package measures 1 mm x 2 mm x 0.55 mm

Dubbed the smallest four-line ESD protection IC supporting all leading high-speed interconnects, the HSP061-4NY8 in an eight-lead microDFN package measures 1 mm x 2 mm x 0.55 mm, saving at least 30% of PCB space when compared to similar ICs. The device contains a network of transient voltage suppression diodes capable of protecting two pairs of differential data lines. The diodes provide complete protection for the 5-Gb/s SuperSpeed bus defined in the USB 3.0 specification. A single HSP061-4NY8 can also protect all the data lines of an HDMI port, an entire channel in SATA interfaces, up to and including the latest 6 Gb/s SATA 3.0 standard, or a two-lane DisplayPort interface. Pricing is $0.20 each/3,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
