Operating in 12V adapter systems, the AAT2688 synchronous step-down converter and LDO regulator relies on a proprietary high-voltage modular BCD process to deliver efficiency levels up to 90%. Channel one on the dual-output device is a buck converter feeding off a 6V to 24V input voltage. The buck converter delivers a 4.5A output and converts 12V to 3.3V at a 4.5A load. The second channel provides a low-input voltage LDO. Employing a 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage, the LDO delivers up to 600 mA of output current. The device performs with a fixed, 490-kHz switching frequency, provides independent input and enable pins for each function, and includes soft start, over-current and over-temperature protection circuits. Available in a 24-pin, 4 mm x 5 mm TQFN package, price for the AAT2688 is $1.25 each/1,000. ANALOGIC TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 737-4600.
