As part of an aggressive plan to bring its Volition brand cabling system to market, 3M recently announced agreements with data communications component and equipment distributors. With a network of selected distributors, 3M is attempting to ensure global availability for this fiber-optic LAN cabling system, which is said to cost half that of traditional fiber cabling.The initial list of distributors selected to support 3M's Volition Cabling System includes: Alltel. Anicom, Border States, Branch Datacom, Butler Electric, Carlyle, CSC, Famous Telephone Supply, Fibertron, GE Supply, Graybar, GTE Supply, Goldcom, Platt Electric, Power and Telephone Supply, Premium Technologies and Sprint North Supply.In addition to distribution of the Volition connector and patch cords, the distributors will also work with the network of Volition integration professionals for complete distribution, supply, and installation of the systems and its components.
