Chipset Serves HDSL2 Modem Applications

High-performance, 1.544-Mbps symmetric transmission over a single copper wire pair is attained with the G2237 chipset for HDSL2 modem applications, which use pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) techniques. With the extensive programmable flexibility and firmware download capability of the chipset, DSL products can reportedly be cost-effectively upgraded and enhanced with new features and functions. The chipset also offers equipment suppliers product flexibility for seamless single-wire pair multimode operation in either MSDSL or HDSL2 mode through firmware download. It allows operation over one pair of wires and utilizes advanced signal processing and field-proven communication algorithms to achieve the same loop reach and robust performance that HDSL achieves operating over two pairs of wires.
