Crosspoint Switch Provides 340 Ports

Aug. 1, 2001

Expanding the MSX family of SRAM-based, in-system-programmable crosspoint switches, the MSX340 features a non-blocking switch matrix that provides 340 individually configurable I/O ports and double buffered RAM cells. Built in a 0.35 µm CMOS process, the device has an aggregate bandwidth of over 25 Gb/s and the I/O buffers can be programmed as either inputs or outputs for bi-directional operation or to operate in bus-repeater mode. The device also claims to offer tight skew and identical pin-to-pin delays. Other features include a flow-through non-return-to-zero (NRZ) data rate of 150 Mb/s, registered clock frequencies of 75 MHz, and 3.3V operation with LVTTL I/Os. Packaged in a 480-ball BGA, price is $134 each/1,000. I-CUBE, INC., Campbell, CA. (408) 341-1888.
