Line Transformers ProvideInterfaces For ADSL Chipsets

March 1, 2002

Two new ADSL line transformers have been developed specifically for interfacing to the Analog Devices AD20msp930 ADSL chipset. The Models PT563-1 for CO interfaces and PT564-1 for CPE interfaces are compliant with UL1950 and EN60950 supplementary insulation requirements for operating voltage up to 250 Vrms. Said to possess excellent total harmonic distortion performance, other key electrical parameters of the devices include: turns ratios of 1:1.1 ±2% (PT563-1) and 1:1.2 ±2% (PT564-1), leakage inductances of 7.5µH max, and isolation voltages of 1,500 Vrms. Insertion loss at 300 kHz is less than 0.5 dB. The PT563-1 measures .550"W x .394"D x .500"H, while the PT564-1 measures .547"W x .394"D x .500"H. Manufactured using UL94V0 rated materials and operating effectively in temperatures ranging from -40¡ to +85¼C, the devices are compatible with high-speed automated pick-and-place assembly and high-temperature soldering equipment. Available in tube packaging, the line transformers are priced at $0.45 each in typical production volume. DATATRONIC DISTRIBUTION INC., Romoland, CA. (909) 928-7700.
