Rope-Pull Switches Act Fast In Emergencies

April 1, 2001

Designed for applications where user and equipment safety are a major concern, emergency-stop, rope-pull safety switches are positive opening mechanical switches that connect to cables to provide multiple-location emergency shutdown capabilities. They can be placed along conveyor lines or around the perimeter of large manufacturing machines. Capable of shutting down the machinery at any point along the cable’s length, the switches are activated by pulling on a cable attached to the actuator. Users can choose from spring-action auto reset and manual-reset latching output models for one- or two-side spans. Auto reset models reset their contacts automatically when the cable is released. Latching output models hold their stop contacts open after the cable is pulled and released, requiring users to push a reset button on the switch. Capable of withstanding harsh environments with an estimated mechanical life of one million operations, the switches are IP65/NEMA 4 rated, UL approved, and CSA certified. Prices begin at $79.
